America’s YinYang
We believe entrepreneurs are the second most valuable people on the planet Earth. Only after the warriors who protect our freedom. After all, American Yinyang is Democracy and Capitalism.
America today is not the best country at democracy nor capitalism. But it IS the longest uninterrupted integration of the two. And just like interest compounds, so too has America’s Yinyang. As you live in America it’s important to understand these two opposing interdependent forces because hopefully they stay intact long enough for you lifetime. And if they do they will be acting like a silent hand impacting every aspect of your life.
Why I’m writing this?
I decided to teach you about this because no one else is talking about it openly or attempting to explain it with such simplicity. Check every classroom in America you’ll be hard pressed to find any that teach why America is the land of opportunity. And if you don’t understand the why… you’re less likely to value it. And if you don’t value it then it disappears.
As someone born in America it’s more difficult to see what makes this place special. As a man who chose to immigrate to America at 29 years old adult, I strategically chose it over going to Britain. Because I was forced to make these choices ad spend my own money, I’m able to clearly tell you why America won out. Yet being born in America is like waking up with a golden goose that every single day churns out eggs. On the first day it’s magical, 249 years later you have long stopped recognizing the goose’s golden impact.
And yet every federal, state and municipal election Americans will vote to have their freedom decreased by increased governance, like the pig gladly fattening up for the farmer.
Capitalism has few champions. The pendulum of public understanding has stopped defending the individual prosperity creator. Schools don’t teach it. Adults don’t defend it, like it’s taboo. Today it is fashionable to dump on capitalism. Even America’s top capitalists like Buffett fear defending the very system responsible for his felllow American’s quality of life.
The second most valuable pursuit outside your home is starting a business.
In times when America is not at war the government only has three primary functions:
- Protect the nation from foreign threats.
- Adjudicate contract disputes between individuals.
- Protect citizens from crimes by other citizens.
All else is to be left to private actors or pushed to the state and municipal levels of government.
